Splendour In The Grass 2012

If you’re heading along to Splendour this year, you can see me doing some things at the Forum tent over the weekend.
SATURDAY, 2PM: Rock Gods – Supernatural Talent or a Talent for the Supernatural?
From ancient tribal worship chants and baroque hymns to the slavery origins of gospel songs, music and spirituality have long been intertwined.
But what comes first – musical genius or divine inspiration? Does it take supernatural talent to be a rock god? Or just belief in the supernatural?
Not every chart-topper believes their success is destined but god still receives more thanks at the Grammys and other awards ceremonies than anyone or anything else.
Does faith give rockstars the confidence they need to rise above the criticism, competition and rough-and-tumble of the music industry? Or, maybe, they’re all just crazy?
Join the flock as they gather to hear the gospel and heresy according to Australia’s favourite faith-prodding documentary film-maker and broadcaster John Safran, writer/comedian/star of the award-winning comedy show “God Is Bullshit” Catherine Deveny, The Chaser’s Craig Reucassel, triple j breakfast host and atheist Tom Ballard, singer/songwriter Kav Temperley (Eskimo Joe, 50 Years of Dylan), Spiderbait’s Kram (who once penned a punk anthem about going on a roadtrip with Jesus) and World Vision’s national advisor for youth, faith & activism Jarrod McKenna.
SUNDAY, 4PM: SPLENDOUR COMEDY CLUB
Comedians Wil Anderson, Catherine Deveny, Tom Ballard and Dan Ilic will have you rolling in the grassy aisles as they kick off the inaugural Splendour Forum Comedy Club.
All the details on the Splendour site.
